In January, UBS announced the addition of its Productivity Award. The award adds 150 basis points of payout per month for eligible advisors. The productivity award equates to roughly $150,000 in additional pay per year for a $10-million producer, according to AdvisorHub.
According to an internal summary, Advisors must generate at least $10 million of trailing-12 month revenue or be part of a team with $20 million in total production and average revenue per team member of more than $5 million to qualify for the award.
The $10 million production mark is the highest on UBS's payout grid. Advisors at the $10 million plus level with at least 20 years of experience at the firm can earn a payout of 51 percent with an additional deferred award of 9 percent of their trailing-12 revenue.
UBS CEO Ralph Hamers emphasized the firm's focus on its highest producers during its earnings call in July. During the call, Hamers shared that profitability in the Americas has increased by 60 percent, even as advisor headcount has decreased over the past three years.
