UBS Shifts from Salary Guarantees to Performance-Based Bonuses

January 12th, 2024, 1:06 PM

UBS Wealth Management USA is set to adjust a key feature in its recruiting deals for experienced financial advisors, according to AdvisorHub.

The firm plans to move away from guaranteeing deferred bonuses irrespective of revenue growth. Instead, UBS intends to adopt a more conventional bonus formula, requiring recruited financial advisors to increase their production by a specified amount to qualify for additional back-end bonuses.

UBS's recruiting offers historically have been among the most attractive on Wall Street, but competitors like Merrill Lynch and Wells Fargo Advisors have enhanced their incentives. The forthcoming adjustments aim to align UBS with more conventional industry practices, including incentive-based back-end bonuses tied to performance metrics.
