Mercer Sues Former San Diego Advisors and Savvy Wealth Over Alleged Client Poaching and Trade Secret Theft

July 18th, 2025, 10:30 AM

Mercer Global Advisors has filed suit against three former San Diego-based advisors and their new employer, Savvy Wealth, alleging coordinated efforts to misappropriate client data and violate contractual obligations.

As reported by AdvisorHub, the complaint names former Mercer advisors Brian R. Jellig, Sandra J. Mapp, and Sean M. O'Connor, who joined Savvy Advisors on July 3. All three were previously affiliated with Epstein & White, a $740 million RIA acquired by Mercer in 2021. Mercer claims the trio abruptly resigned on the same day they joined Savvy, in violation of a required 30-day notice provision.

While a Savvy spokesperson declined to comment on ongoing litigation, the firm acknowledged the advisors' decision to move on, stating they were "thankful for their time at Mercer" but had chosen a future they felt better aligned with evolving industry needs.
