According to InvestmentNews, Merrill Lynch will seek to recruit both younger and more selectively experienced advisors. Merrill Lynch intends to add 500 early-career advisors through its "accelerated growth program."
In the past, Merrill Lynch strayed from hiring experienced advisors and focused on training young hires. Recently, Merrill has placed the focus on hiring veteran advisors, or advisors that "generate $1 million or more in annual revenue…in large markets." Merrill Lynch plans to expand its range of hiring of experienced advisors to such locations as: Austin, Texas; Aspen, Colorado; Nashville, Tennessee; Iowa; and Maine.
