LPL Boosts Recruiting Deals To Lure Competitors' Advisors

March 6th, 2023, 2:54 PM

In an effort to recruit advisors from competitor firms, LPL Financial has raised bonuses to 100 basis points on assets under management (AUM) for advisors generating at least 70 percent of their revenue from recurring fees in advisory accounts.

According to recruiters, the bonuses include a deferred element for advisors who transfer more assets than expected, which makes the bonus more lucrative than current market offers of around 70 to 80 basis points.

The new bonus comes as LPL is experiencing a decrease in recruited assets, according to AdvisorHub. According to a Houston-based recruiter, advisors can earn 50 basis points on assets that transfer over an "expected" hurdle, typically around 85 percent.

Recruiting offers have become more competitive as more firms fight over a smaller number of eligible candidates. An industry recruiter shared that firms like Raymond James and Ameriprise are the most vulnerable to LPL's new recruitment offer.
