Gridline has announced the launch of a new digital investment platform that focuses on access to professionally managed alternative funds. Traditionally, professionally managed alternative funds are limited to sophisticated endowments and institutional investors. Gridline's new platform will usher in access for investment advisors, individual investors, family offices.
Users will have access to a personalized dashboard showing all their holdings, performance reports, portfolio values, funded and unfunded commitments, and performance-level data on the underlying investments. Gridline charges an asset under management fee on the total assets managed on its platform, ranging from 50 to 100 basis points.
Other alternative platforms exist. For example, iCapital works with 200 of the largest alternative general partners (GPs) in the world and has $105 billion in total assets invested through the platform used by more than 8,500 advisors. The CAIS platform works with 4,400 advisor teams that have transacted over $15 billion in total assets. Recently, CAIS received $225 million in capital, bringing the firm's valuation to more than $1 billion.
