Fidelity Investments has launched two new suites of turnkey model portfolios along with an expanded education program aimed at helping wealth management firms incorporate alternative investments into client portfolios, according to AltsWire.
The new offerings come as advisers increasingly look for structured ways to add alternative assets to traditional portfolios. Fidelity research cited by AltsWire indicates that 46 percent of advisers have expressed interest in model portfolios that combine conventional investments with alternatives.
According to AltsWire, the firm designed the model portfolios to give eligible wealth management firms streamlined, off the shelf access to private markets through an open architecture structure. The offerings include Fidelity Model Portfolios with Private Markets in I and Z share classes, as well as Fidelity Model Portfolios with Private Markets ETF Focused.
AltsWire further reports that Fidelity introduced a continuing education program called Alternative Navigator alongside the model portfolios. The program offers module based instruction led by Fidelity portfolio construction specialists and investment strategists. It includes continuing education accredited tutorials and curated resource guides designed for both advisers and investors.
AltsWire also notes that Fidelity currently manages more than 65 alternative investment funds with more than $50 billion in assets under management. The firm also serves as a major custodian for alternative assets and oversees more than $100 billion in assets under administration across approximately 6,000 proprietary and third party alternative products.
