Citizens Financial Group has enlisted the expertise of Thomas B. Metzger, a former executive from First Republic, to spearhead its expansion into retail wealth management.

Metzger, with 16 years of industry experience, previously led broker recruiting efforts at First Republic before its collapse last year. In his role as head of private wealth managers at Citizens, Metzger aims to establish and lead a team of wealth managers focusing on attracting new clients across key U.S. regions.

According to AdvisorHub, the move aligns with Citizens' goal to double assets in its wealth management division over the medium term, with the division currently holding approximately $22 billion in assets.
