Project Thunder Campaign Continues: Merrill Lynch Adds Mobile Tools, Annuities, and Trust Specialists

October 19th, 2021, 12:00 AM

Merrill Lynch's Project Thunder campaign continues with its fifth round of updates. The new rollout includes a mobile app for advisors' phones, an expanding annuity line-up, and more trust specialists, according to AdvisorHub

The three additions are aimed at making it easier for Merrill's advisors to do business.

First, the new mobile tool, named Mobile Advisor Experience, or "MAX," will integrate several advisor desktop features, including viewing client information and texting clients, all in one application. Previously, advisors accessed that information on a company iPad with pre-loaded application, according to an advisor at Merrill.

Second, Merrill is responding to advisor feedback by adding New York Life's three-year fixed annuities in addition to Symetra and Pacific Life products.

Lastly, Merrill will add four trust officers tasked with assisting advisors in administering "sophisticated" customer plans in addition to staffing 20 other trust officer positions in local Merrill branches and regional centers for further support. The internal newsletter also mentioned that the firm would create a new Estate Settlement Services team that "will accelerate review and acceptance of new estates."
