According to Investment News, early exit decisions are being driven by the freedom afforded by remote work arrangements. Many in the financial services industry are leaving traditional jobs with good pay and benefits for less certain independent ventures with the possibility of more freedom.

Leaving a traditional job in the financial services industry is not something to be considered lightly. Advisors who have made that decision state that "even though flexibility comes with independence, people who start their own businesses should expect to put in more hours than they did before."

This "freedom" also can result in significant financial change, as incomes can drop substantially, at least initially. According to advisors, benefits are perhaps the biggest hurdle, with a lack of insurance, 401(k) matches, and other perks keeping some prospective entrepreneurs from taking the leap.
